DAY 01- Airport arrivals: 

Upon arrival you will escorted to Habarana-Kandalama by Travel Lanka connection representatives, where you can check in at the hotel and evening on leisure.

NOTE: Dinner & Overnight stay at the Hotel is included. The duration from the airport to Kandalama is approximately 4 hours

DAY 02- Habarana to Anuradhapura and back: 

Visit the north central world heritage site of Sri Lanka’s first capital city, Anuradhapura. Known as the centre of the islands Buddhist civilization and undoubtedly the grandest ancient city of the island. Visit the historically oldest tree on earth, The Sri Maha Bodhi, known to be over 2,200 years old.

Continue to explore the impressive white dagabas-relic chambers and monuments embellished with historical stone carvings and sculptures, pleasure gardens, stone baths and ponds. Carry on exploring Anuradhapura’s golden attractions such as; The Brazen Palace which contains amazing stone columns and remains from residences for monks from 2nd century B.C.

Check out Ruwanweli Seya the most famous dagoba known for its engineering marvel shapes from 2nd century BC. Visit Samadhi buddha statue regarded as the finest rock sculpture on the island from 3rd century BC, alongside Thuparama the oldest dagoba in the island. After a historical day, you will be transferred back to Kandalama where you can relax for the evening.

DAY 03- Habarana – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Habarana:

After breakfast proceed to Sigiriya, climb the magnificent rock fortress. Sigiriya is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. Explore the most impressive facets of the complex Water Gardens, he Frescoes of beautiful maidens, mirror wall with ancient graffiti, the lion platform and summit of 1.6 hectares.

The Lion rock is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200m from the scrub jungle. After descending from the rock proceed to take part of a sightseeing tour of Polonnaruwa. This medieval city, rose to fame as the capital in the 10-12th century AD, after the decline of Anuradhapura. The entire landscape is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, including the famous Parakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, which is larger in size than the Colombo harbor.

The Monuments are relatively well-preserved and evidently show the glory of Sri Lanka’s glorious past. The city’s highlights include the Royal Palace complex (Kings palace and Audience hall), the Quadrangle of ancient heritage and Gal vihara complex of 4 massive images of the Buddha carved from granite. Here you can see some of the best examples of Hindu influence such as; Temples of Shiva, intricate statues of Hindu gods, fascinating Buddhist temples, Lankatileka and Watadage, the Galpotha, the Lotus bath, Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former temple of the tooth are other impressive sights. Upon completing the tour, proceed back to the hotel to spend the rest of the day on leisure.

DAY 04 – Visit Kandulama- Dambulla- Kandy:

After breakfast, get ready to visit the Dambulla cave temple, located in north central province. This site dates to the first century BC, which comprises of 5 amazing caves. It was first used as a refuge by ancient kings.

Explore the magnificent carved images within the living rock, which were improved as later kings also carved images on the walls. The caves contain over 150 images of Buddha of which the largest figure is a colossal 15 meters. Many of these cave inscriptions belong to the Kandy period (early 19th century).

After you have experienced the evolution of ancient Sri Lankan art, you will be transferred to Matale to visit the spice garden. Here you will be able to see and purchase well-known spices and herbs of Sri Lanka. Later, proceed to take part of the Kandy and conduct sightseeing tour where you can visit the Temple of the tooth and a Gem museum. In the evening, enjoy a cultural dance performance by the famous Kandy dancers.

DAY 05- Kandy – RBG – Nuwara Eliya

After enjoying your breakfast, Proceed to Peredeniya where you can enjoy a scenic train ride to Nanu Oya, where you can see amazing waterfalls, tea plantation and many picturesque views until you arrive at Muwara Eliya. This premier hill resort has a fine bracing mountain climate and produces some of the world’s best tea. Enjoy the amazing views of mountain slopes and valleys covered with velvety green tea plantations, gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls.

Muwarar Eliya comprises of red or green roofed plantation bungalows, English country style homes and hotels with amazing flower gardens. It includes a fine 18-hole golf course and a racecourse, giving the resort its premium British character. Check in at the hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening on leisure.

DAY 6 – Day Excursion to Horton Plains:

After breakfast enjoy your day excursion to Horton Plains. The journey involves climbing to reach the park entrance and may have to be done via a jeep/van depending on the state of the rugged road. Once you have reached the entrance, commence the 8 km hike on a treacherous foot path across the vast plain set 7000 feet above sea level.

This absolute wonder of nature, is home for large herds of sambhur elk, where you can watch the herds feeding in the early morning. Forests around the plain are tropical temperate and are grown to withstand vehement night storms and cold monsoon winds. Half way during the hike, you will come across the famous drop known as ‘the worlds end’; a gorge that’s over 3000 ft deep.

On clear days you can watch the life at the foothill of the gorge in miniature form, from a 6 hour distant district! Carry on descending down a steep precipice where a great deck lays. Here you can watch the breath-taking Bakers Falls cascading over a massive rock before plunging in a deep pool presenting an awe-inspiring view. The National park is also home for mountain birds including the endemic ‘arenga’, very rare horned lizards, bear monkeys, and some toads. Butterflies and dragon flies are endemic too. The park also has a sizeable leopard population, but sightings are very rare. Upon completing the trek, conduct a brief sightseeing tour of Nuwara Eliya.

DAY 07- Nuwara eliya and Yala:

After Breakfast proceed to Yala and check in at the hotel where you can relax and get ready for your evening safari tour by exploring Yala national park in a 4×4 jeep. Yala west national park is well recognized as one of the best parks in the world to observe and photograph leopards. The tour covers over 100,000 hectares and comprises of sand dunes, lagoons, dry river/stream beds, rocky out drops and scrub/thorn forests.

There is also a substantial elephant population within the park, alongside sambar, wild buffalo, sloths, bears, jackals, mongoose, pangolins and crocodiles. On the other hand, bird life within the park contains over 120 species ranging from flamingos to paradise flycatchers, crested hawk eagles and black bitterns. After your exotic safari tour, transfer back to the hotel and spend the rest of the evening on leisure.

DAY 08 – Yala – Galle- Bentota:

After breakfast proceed to Bentota via Galle, where you can embark on a sightseeing tour of Galle. Here you will find the 17th century Dutch Fort that is now declared as a world heritage site. The fort is protected by a colossal rock wall built around it. Here, you would come across grand churches, amazing Dutch buildings, ancient garrisons and cannon positions, maze of court yards, paved assembling positions connected by cobblestone streets and a lovely maritime museum.

All these attractions have been restored to their former glory, mainly funded by the Dutch government after the Tsunami in 2004. Visit the British built classic lighthouse from 1848 where you can see the rocky sea from all sides of the great fort. Visit the famous Amangalle resort; an exclusive up market property famous for its cosy yesteryear ambiance. Visit the colonial hotel for a cup of tea or lunch if you wish to go back to the 18th century. Thereafter, you will be escorted back to the hotel where you can relax for the rest of the evening.

DAY 09 – Bentota – Madu River – Turtle Hatchery – Bentota:

After breakfast, you will depart to Kosgoda. Here you will be able to visit the Turtle hatchery farm following with a boat safari tour in Madu River. After this adorable sea- creature filled tour, transfer back to the hotel and spend the rest of the evening relaxing and unwinding.

DAY 10- Bentota – Colombo:

After Breakfast you will be transferred to Colombo for a sightseeing tour, including free time on shopping. Explore Colombo, where great colonial era buildings are still intact and are immaculately maintained to stand side by side with modern buildings. With no doubt, the city speaks volumes of the glorious past Colombo had from the 15th century on wards, from Kings to the Portuguese, Dutch and to the English later, until the island became a sovereign state once again in 1948.

As all Europeans left their own marks in the city, visit the 17th century Dutch Wolfendhal church, the museum, town hall and the Victoria park built by the British. Carry on visiting the lovely renovated temple of Buddha within the Colombo fort. Within the city you will find lively pubs, ritzy restaurants, coffee and tea houses, up-market spas and even ample shopping. This area has classic court yards and mazes of alluring terraces with seating. Later, check in at your hotel and spend the rest of the day on leisure.

DAY 11 – Departure:

After enjoying your final breakfast in Sri Lanka, you will be escorted to the airport in time for your departure flight.
