But, there is nothing to be scared of. With a proper plan, you would be able to complete your first trek successfully and venture out on much more. Listed below is a quick guide that would help you to prepare yourself for that trek that you have been waiting so long for.

Get Your Hands on a Good Pair of Trekking Shoes

When trekking, you are going to be walking a lot. If you do not invest in a good pair of shoes, you would end up hurting your feet and getting blisters. However, you can avoid this by investing in a good pair of trekking shoes or boots. Make sure that you purchase one that is comfortable ,has a good grip and can provide ample support to your ankle. Try a few shoes to ensure that the fit is perfect otherwise you would just be worrying about your feet rather than enjoying the trail.

Do not Overpack

Do not forget that you going on a trek and wouldn’t require all the things that you usually pack when heading for a vacation. On the mountains, you wouldn’t require 5 pairs of denim and innumerable T-shirts. You would hardly get the chance to shower every day. You might be tempted to carry more but remember that you have to carry the load all the way up in the mountains and you are most likely to feel tired very soon if your backpack is heavier. So, think sensibly and pack light.

Pick a Route Prudently

When trekking, it is absolutely essential to be aware of your limits. If you are a beginner, don’t choose a trail that you know is going to be too difficult for you. Trekking is a strenuous physical activity and requires both physical and mental strength. Before you sign up for anything, research more about the trekking route, type, and length of the terrain. Start off with the easier routes and as you gain experience you can aim for the more difficult climbs.

Stock Up on Food and Remain Hydrated

This is something quite obvious: pack enough food and carry enough water. You are going to be walking a lot and feeling thirsty and hungry would be quite natural. On the trek, you might not find places to refill your bottle or to stock up on food. Therefore, carry a minimum of 2 water bottles of a liter each and refill it at every chance that you get.  When trekking, it is always better to remain prepared and has more than what you need. This way, you wouldn’t have to worry in case your trip extends longer than you anticipated.

Other than everything mentioned above, remember to enjoy yourself. Enjoy the breathtaking views, breathe in the fresh and crisp air and remember to have fun along the way.
