DAY 01 – Arrival in Paro:

Arrive in Paro where you will be escorted to your hotel. According to the season of the year, an array of activities is available upon your arrival. Ranging from visiting Rinpung Dzong and Ta Dzong. Explore the exquisite architecture of the local village and farmhouse nearby. Return to your hotel to relax for tomorrows mountain bike ride.

DAY 02 – Paro Valley Tour:

Visit one of the most beautiful and historical valleys in Bhutan. Spend most of the day exploring the valley as you cycle through Paro with your mountain bikes. During this bike ride, you will visit prominent attractions such as Kichu and Dumtshe Lhakhang temples. Ride along to visit the quaint agrarian village away from the town.

DAY 03- Flight to Bumthang, drive to Tang Valley:

You will be escorted to the airport for your scenic flight to Bumthang. Upon arrival, drive through beautiful forests and roadside agrarian villages on your way to Tang valley. Stop at Membartsho nunnery and Rimochen temple. Followed by visiting nearby small villages on foot.

Note: Overnight stay in a simplistic family run guest house.

Day 4 – Explore Tang valley and Horse riding:

Start your day with horse riding! The Wind Horse Ranch nearby escort the horses to your guest house, where you will ride slowly up Tang valley. Once you have reached your destination, climb up to the Orgyencholing Manor and Museum. Continue riding to upper villages in Tang, where you can visit the homes of the friendly locals. Return to the Wind Horse Ranch and drive back to the guest houses. Relax and enjoy a traditional Hot stone bath.

DAY 05 – Horse riding to Kunzangdra/camp:

Get ready for a day entirely set for horse trekking. Ride from the guest house till Kizom, a small road side village. The path changes from a levelled gradient road to a narrow trail. Follow the side of the hills as you ascend through fields and pine forests, dismounting from your horse in some places if needed. You can also take part of a one hour hike up to Kungzangdra temple/meditation site on a cliff above, if wanted. Continue your ride further on, where you will camp above Bapzur village.

DAY 06 – Horse riding to Padselling Monastry and cycle to Jakar:

Ride your horses from the camp site to Padselling through pine trees, buckwheat fields and beautiful meadows. The trail lightly descends in some places through the meadows, providing an opportunity to trot and canter on your horse. After crossing the stream, travel uphill to reach Padselling monastery found on top of a ridge, where you can see great views of Bumthang. Explore the monastery, where you caninterract with monks. Change your mount to mountain biking from the monastery. Following the farm road, as you bike downhill with beautiful views of Jakar valley below.

Note: Overall this trip takes 6-7 hours. Overnight hotel stay in Jakar.

DAY 07 – Visit Jakar, Bumthang:

Explore the spiritual heartland of Bhutan, Bumthang is dotted with many significant religious edifices and monuments. If you wish to cover as many attractions, you can interminably use support vehicles to carry the bikes and cycle on visiting monuments. Thus, including some beautiful short hikes and farm-house visit in the vicinity. Visit major attractions; Kurjey, Tamshing, Jambay Lhakang, Jakar Dzong, Wandgicholing palace, swiss farm, cheese factory, weaving centre, and Karchu monastery. Here you may be able to watch monks during their evening debate and prayers.

DAY 08 – Visit Tharpaling and Chumey Valley:

Take a drive from Jakar drive to Chumey valley to the ridge top Tharpaling monastery. Begin your thrilling journey with a bike ride along the ridgeline through forests and meadows. You can opt out for taking this path and use the road you initially took on your way back. Once you have reached the main road, Chumey valley is only half an hour away. Ride in the valley for the rest of the day, following exploing the village and Yathra weaves on your way to Nimalung monastery where there hardly is any traffic.

DAY 09 – A Drive to Trongsa – Gangtey and Phobjikha:

Drive through two mountain passes on the way to Gangtey. This long drive can take around 6hours with an occasional bike ride along the way. Depart from Chumey and cross Yutongla pass into Trongsa, where you can visit Trongsa Dzong, whilst taking in the amazing views of the passing mountains and villages. After crossing Pele la pass, cross over to the spectacular Gangtey, Phobjikha valley.

DAY 10 – Phobjikha valley rides:

Visit the glacial valley Phobjikha. Explore this designated conservation zone and its Jigme Singye national park. Ride your bikes on your way to visit small quaint villages located on the slopes of the hillsides. Visit the ancient Gangtey Monastery, and cycle back to the valley along the nature train that cuts across the valley into Black Neck Crane Info Centre. You may also be able to visit local school within the monastery.

Note: walking or carrying bikes may be required during the valley visit. If your travel period falls between late October till early March, then you can also watch large flocks of endangered Black Necked Crane, highly revered birds that migrate from central Asia.

DAY 11 – Cycle to Khotokha valley:

Start your morning with a challenging bike ride. Pedal uphill for 8km to Tsele La. Tackle a gradual descent to Gogona valley with a few settlements just spread out over a few meadows. Here you will see the locals and their day-to-day farming activities. Start your second ascent from Gogona, 2ndpart is slightly shorter, less difficult to Shobe La pass. Carry on to descent through the magical forest where you will pass through rhododendron forest. Pass some sections of the trail over wood bridges with streams running smoothly under. Finally enter Khothokha valley and its near by village with a newly built monastic school with over 100 monks. You can use the monastery’s guest house.

Note: This tour is approximately 40km/6-7hours of cycling.

DAY 12 – Cycle to Wangdue/Punakha:

Take an easier challenge today compared to yesterday. Climb for about 6.5kms to the ridge top of Tashila. Carry on with a bike-ride downhill with endless switchback that bring you down to warmer elevation to the main east-west highway. The road can be muddy and slippery but it’s a thrill to cycle downhill. This journey will take about 5hours/25kms. From here you may ride on the main road or take another farm road path to Wangdue and Punakha depending on how you feel and weather conditions.

Day 13- Activities in Punkaha valley:

Start your day by visiting the arguably most beautiful Dzong, Punkaha Dzong, which harbours Mo and Po Chhu river. Here you can choose to go on a white-water river rafting or kayaking adventure. Other options are available such as bike riding, riding in the valley and visiting monuments along the way, or drive to Limukha/Nobgang village using the farm road through the villages.

Note: Overnight hotel stay or optional traditional farm house. Kayaking or rafting may include extra costs that you can pay directly.

DAY 14 – Hike and Cycle from Punakha to Thimphu:

Drive up to Dochula Pass, savour the spectacular panorama of peaks over some tea and snacks. Begin a 2hour hike from Dochula to Lungchuzekha temple placed on a high ridge. Explore the temple with the caretaker and try meditating at this magnificent temple. Carry on hiking downhill for another hour to Trashigang settlement of meditation houses and monastery. Begin your bike-ride downhill to the main road. If you prefer a more challenging path you can also follow the walking path. Arrive in Thimphu in the afternoon where you can visit the great Taschicho Dzong.

DAY 15- Tour of Capital Thimphu:

Visit the capital of Bhutan, Timphu, and its contemporary yet traditional attractions that will keep you on your toes for the entire day. Starting off by driving to Buddha point, one of the arguably tallest Buddha statues in a sitting posture to be created. Continue a bike ride from a point below, following a beautiful trail that has been dedicated to the fourth king. Ride for roughly an hour to reach Changangkja Lhakang, whilst crossing through paths with amazing views of Thimphu. After visiting Changangkha, driving or cycling, explore prominent attractions found such as; the textile museum, indigenous hospital, Taschichho Dzong, national library and many more. Later, visit the Centennial Farmers market and if time permits, also watch an archery match in action at the Chanlimithang ground.

DAY 16- Drive to Paro and hike to Takstang:

Reach the Tiger’s nest trail after an hour and a half drive. This active and diverse trip starts with hiking to iconic Taksang which is known as the soul of Bhutan. After exploring the Taksang monastery, stop and try a hand or two at the archery p the national game of Bhutan. Finally return to the hotel to have a free evening of relaxing before your farewell dinner.

DAY 17- Airport Departure:

You will be escorted to the airport for your departure with amazing new stories to tell your loved ones back home.
