Not everyone associates Iran with skiing, but with the world-class resorts of Dizin and neighbouring Shemshak and Dabansar, the stunning Alborz Mountains absolutely should be! this adventure will take you south to the incomparable cities of Isfahan and Yazd, to explore some of the finest examples of Islamic architecture on the planet, as well as opportunities to try the fabulous local cuisine and shop in the ancient bazaars of this most beautiful of ancient civilizations.

Itinerary:

  6. Drive Tehran, take a train to Yazd.
  7. Tour of Yazd, drive Isfahan.
  8. Tour of Isfahan,drive to Tehran.
  9. Fly out of Tehran.

DAY 1 – Land in Tehran, day tour of Tehran:

Upon your arrival, take a tour of the capital including its breath-taking palaces such as the Ahmad Shahi Pavilion. Which is situated in the great wooded Niavaran complex in the north of the city; home to the last Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Visit the Golestan Palace and other royal buildings in the gardens of royal Qajar complex of the preceding dynasty before heading to the Grand Bazaar!

Note : Lunch and dinner is included. Alongside an overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 2 – Drive to Dizin, Ski full day:

Dizin is Iran’s largest ski resort, situated in the Alborz mountain range just north of Tehran. It was established in 1969 by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who was fond of skiing in Switzerland. The ski season in Dizin lasts longer than in European ski resorts – from December to May – due to the resort’s high altitude. The highest ski lift reaches 3600m making it one of the 40 highest ski resorts in the world. Drive to the resort and enjoy a full day of skiing.

DAY 3 – Ski full day:

From the two highest lifts there is an absolutely incredible view along the range to Mt. Damavand, at 5100m the highest mountain in The Middle East. The Dizin ski complex has been officially recognized by the International Ski Federation to hold international competitions. It is meticulously maintained alongside considerably less crowds than other international resorts, it is simply a hidden gem of a ski destination!

DAY 4 – Ski full day :

Depending on the amount of snowfall, if the high road is open from the top of the resort you can catch a cab down to the neighbouring resort of Shemshack. Although this resort is much smaller, it has some excellent technical runs. Both skiers and snowboarders are welcome in both resorts.

DAY 5 – Ski full day:

The snow quality at Dizin is fantastic! There are a number of restaurants in the area and on the piste. As the resort is enormous there is no danger of things becoming repetitive in your four days of full skiing.

DAY 6 – Drive Tehran, take a train to Yazd:

Wave goodbye to the mountains as you drive back to Tehran, hop on a local train, and enjoy the view as you head to Yazd. Due to its unique Persian architecture, it is known as the ‘City of Windcatchers’. Which was built to deal with  extremely hot summers. Yazd has a history of over 5000 years and continues to this day to be a centre for Zoroastrianis.

Note : Breakfast lunch and dinner is included. Alongside a joy-ride drive, railroad journey and overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 7 – Tour of Yazd:

Take a tour of the city to visit its Zoroastrian fire temples and an ateshkadeh that holds a fire that has been kept alight continuously since 470AD. Built in 12th Century yet is still in use! Visit the famous Jame Mosque of Yazd, which an example of the finest Persian mosaics and excellent architecture. As its minarets soar up to be the highest in the country. Drive to Isfahan  and enjoy the rest of your evening.

DAY 8 – Tour of Isfahan, drive to Tehran:

Isfahan was one of the largest cities in the world, flourished in the 16th and 17th Centuries under the Safavid dynasty, when it became the capital of Persia for the second time in its history. Still today the city retains much of its past glory, and is world-renowned as the pinnacle of Persian–Islamic architecture. Tour its many beautiful boulevards, covered bridges, palaces, mosques, and minarets before returning to Tehran for your final group dinner together in the city.

DAY 9 – Fly out of Tehran:

After breakfast, you will be escorted to the airport for your departure back home.
